Interface of a highly loaded
billing system from scratch

About the product
The Billing platform interface is an internal tool for financial management within the telecom system. The platform acts as a smart intermediary: it controls the amount of money to reserve and write off for each sent SMS, while adding its own billing logic.
Context
The product was built from scratch for a telecom operator. Previously, processes were managed manually or through the company's fragmented systems, and it was decided to unite them into a single service with dashboards and history for tracking billing. Because of this context, I worked closely with the product manager, designers of the company's other platforms, and developers.
Task
Figure out the product logic from scratch, develop the platform’s main layouts, suggest metrics for the dashboard, and refine the role system within the interface.
Process
studied the project documentation.
conducted more than 3 meetings with the product manager to define the core of the system and its capabilities.
interviewed designers who worked on similar products within the company to avoid reinventing patterns and to take already proven solutions into account.
consulted with AI (Claude) when developing the dashboard regarding key billing metrics and how best to visualize them.
Solutions
designed the login modal windows.
designed the main interface of interaction with the system, the history of actions
with detailed filters.designed the role system within the interface: creation, display, editing, and other access levels.
assembled a dashboard with key pricing metrics, and constructed graphs
based on the company's existing UI kit.
Result
The key challenge of the case was not in the interface, but in the speed of diving into an unfamiliar subject area (billing, reserving funds) and working
with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. The project did not reach production
for reasons unrelated to design, but the layouts were fully ready
for development.
